Argyle Estates managed the purchase of a large corner industrial property, and conversion of the building into a convenience retail centre, designed to support the Countdown Supermarket opposite.
With an undersupply of convenience retail, the changing road network and evolving demographic within the area, Argyle identified the site as a prime opportunity to attract key retail operators into St Johns.
The project was anchored by one of the first Carl’s Junior restaurants in New Zealand, and flanked by a strip of retail created from the shell of the old industrial building. The retail was leased to a line-up of carefully coordinated tenants, including a butcher, liquor store, green grocer, takeaway food stores, a café and a gym. An area of first floor office was then fit out for local business Framecad.
Despite completion during the midst of the GFC, the project was unit titled and sold down for record prices at the time.
